HIACE Lab Ph.D. student Kaiser, supervised by Dr. Nade Liang, will present his study titled “Driver Visual Attention Modeling via Vision-Language In-Context Learning” at the 105th Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting, to be held January 11–15, 2026, in Washington, D.C.

This research introduces a novel vision-language modeling framework to analyze how human drivers allocate visual attention across dynamic road environments. By combining large-scale visual data with language-driven context reasoning, the study models where and why drivers focus their attention under complex traffic scenarios. The findings aim to advance interpretable driver-attention prediction and support the design of safer, cognitively aware automated driving systems.

The work was co-authored with Dr. Khandakar Ashrafi Akbar, whose collaboration and insights significantly enriched the study.
