HIACE Lab Ph.D. student Kaiser received an Honorable Mention for the HFES Augmented Cognition Technical Group (ACTG) Student Research Grant Award 2025 for his proposal titled “Gaze-Adaptive AR Hazard Cueing for Long-Tail Driving Scenarios.”
The project explores adaptive augmented reality (AR) cueing driven by drivers’ gaze behavior to enhance hazard anticipation in rare or long-tail traffic scenarios. By aligning AR visual prompts with real-time attention patterns, the proposed approach aims to improve situation awareness, safety, and human–automation teaming in mixed-traffic environments.
The award will be announced during the ACTG Business Meeting on November 7, 2025 (12:00 PM ET, virtual), where Kaiser will deliver a brief 3–5 minute overview of the proposed research. A follow-up update will be shared at the 2026 meeting as the project progresses.
This recognition highlights the HiACE Lab’s ongoing commitment to human-centered, cognitively informed design for safer automated driving systems.
